This was a really fun trail! We did it on a drizzly morning and it was pretty magical. You do have to cross some creeks which is super fun but may be tough for little kids or inexperienced hikers. Well marked trail. Not technical and moderate elevation. I completed the point to point and back which clocked at 9 miles. Flowers were blooming. Very nice.
I found the trail really buggy. Not great, not bad. Some beautiful wildflowers! Pretty trail, mostly single track through the trees. Dog friendly. No animal sighting except a couple cows. Easy parking, slight elevation but nothing strenuous.
First half mile is pretty steep but not too bad after that, down and up after that for 3 miles but some fun downhill sections. Decided to extend it by completing the whole trail and then taking state line road back to the parking area. About 9 miles if your looking to cruise with a little pedaling the last 5 miles after the trail ends. Done on a mountain bike. Anyway, awesome trail, my 7yo daughter had no issue. Advice: park before turning right and walk in to the TH.
We went 3. Would have been some nice views if it weren't smoky out. I liked the aspen trail for shade and beauty. It's OK. This is an easy path through an aspen forest. It's pleasant, but not particularly interesting. I'm sure it is pretty in the fall when the leaves change. There might be other views further along, but I doubt you will ever be able to see the Tetons from this trail. I went out and back 1.
I think the end point on the track shown here is arbitrary, as I am pretty sure that you can continue another couple of miles on to Darby Canyon Rd.
I saw a signed trailhead for the Aspen Trail off that road the day before, about a mile up from Stateline Rd. That means you could do a 10 mile or so loop over to Darby Canyon Road, down to Stateline Road and back to the starting point. I can't imagine why you would want to do that as a hike, as it would involve a lot of walking on roads. Little incline going up but other than that a good hike!
So quiet up there too and loved seeing the tetons and the valley! This trail was beautiful! A lot of up and down both directions. The mileage and elevation listed is one way.
It was about 10 miles with over elevation gain. We went late May and got wet crossing the river, but later it probably would be easy to use rocks to cross. Cute little wildflowers along the trail and a couple small river crossings with stones to hop on.
A lot of very happy dogs on the trail. Well marked trailhead and trail. Dog friendly, beautiful aspens and evergreens. Good for trail run or leisurely hike! Went in early May when the aspens are starting to pop with green Started snowing on us, but trail was passable with the few inches of snow that was there. Views of the valley, and doesn't get too high up into the mountains. Relatively flat for being in the foothills. I lead a group of 50 girls ages on this hike in all experience levels they all made it pretty good except about 4 who thought they might die.
We just finished this hike on July 20 th at pm. There were 3 other people on the trail. The wildflowers were beautiful. The trail ends at a stream but appears to continue unmarked across the stream. This was a great relaxing hike ; definitely moderate in difficulty.
Being from AZ really added to our appreciating the beauty of this trail, especially in July. Abundant wild flowers and beautiful trees with some nice views. Not too strenuous but there is a bit if up going in. The only negative if there is one would be no real end or destination but still a wonderful stroll. We went in the afternoon and saw a few people on the trail. We made it to the creek crossing, went over, and went a bit further before we stopped. Our mileage was showing we had gone 2.
We ran into rain, which made it somewhat muddy. I stopped at the 2nd creek the first has a bridge —it was a little too high for me to want to cross. It wanders through the Aspen forests a few hundred feet above Teton Valley.
It is accessible to hikers, pets, and mountain biking. If biking, consider turning it into a loop via State Line road. There are about parking spots on the Darby Canyon side. The trail head can be accessed from Darby Canyon or Rapid Creek. Reviews Sort by:. Aimee Jordan.
