Fims tool post

Thread: FIMS toolposts. Thread Tools Show Printable Version. There are 4 toolholders. It seems to be nice stuff, but it's worn down loose in spots, and I don't know if it interchanges with anything else. Should I try to adjust and tweak what I have and get a few additional toolholders, or should I sell it to the scrappers and get something else?

I am wide open to suggestions, as long as I can afford them. Plaza Machinery has some different bits. I think they are really nice tool holders, no they are not Aloris compatible David. I'd look there for a phase two. It's a good quality import, then added some holders from cdco. For your 10" I'd think size A though I wasn't able to find any more, so I ended up making a bunch of them. Didn't use tool steel, only mild CRS, but after several years they are still working fine. If you decide to keep the FIMS - btw it's a good one - you might consider making your own holders - it's a worthwhile and interesting project.

What is a FIMS toolpost? If you can score the tool post with holders, you won't be disappointed. The tool holders are fairly hard to come by especially for the smaller tool posts. I made a bunch for myself, and have made a few for members on here. Aloris tool holders, while close don't fit. They were also made by DoAll and another co. I can't think of at the moment. Last edited: Jul 11, I agree , that 3rd channel is handy when getting close to the tailstock.

I'm starting to look around for a tool post and have heard good things about the Fims. Couldn't find anything on the web so I called them up.
